MSI Gaming GS63 Review

With the MSI Gaming GS63, you get a thin, light gaming laptop that combines power, portability, and value. For gamers who want to take their games on the go without sacrificing too much performance or battery life, this is a great option.

One of the best 15-inch gaming notebooks on the market is the MSI Gaming GS63. It has an Intel Core i7 processor, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of SSD storage is available for purchase.

A 15.6-inch FHD (1920 x 1080) IPS display with 144Hz refresh rate and 7ms response time is featured on the laptop. Additionally, MSI has included the SteelSeries RGB keyboard, you can easily work for extended periods of time with utmost convenience. It is indeed powerful enough to run VR games, despite being a thin and light gaming laptop and there is no risk of overheating or swelling of the battery.

We will examine the gaming laptop in depth across all relevant parameters in this article. Thus, you can carry this lightweight and compact laptop on your back.

THE PERFORMANCE AND THE POWER

The MSI GS63 is a great gaming laptop, but it isn’t without flaws.

It was a long time coming, but now we have the updated MSI Gaming GS63 laptop with a full-power 10-series GPU and Intel’s latest 8th Gen Coffee Lake CPU. It’s still a gaming laptop, but now it’s a laptop for any task you throw at it.

Processor and graphics performance are excellent, although there are tradeoffs compared to other configurations that make it less suitable for video editing or professional software development (which will require more RAM).

A laptop like the MSI GS63 is definitely worth considering if you’re looking for one that can handle gaming. It’s thin, light, powerful, has a beautiful screen, and has a great battery life, but it’s also expensive and not easy to upgrade.

Here are a few other notebooks that can handle current PC games well, as well:

With its six-core Intel Core i7-8750H processor and 16GB of RAM, the MSI GS63 is one of the most powerful laptops we’ve tested this year. Additionally, it has a good display, good battery life, and plenty of ports. The 15-inch laptop weighs just 2.3 kg (0.27 kg more than the Pro), making it one of the lightest we’ve ever seen.

A solid all-around laptop, it’s not the best at anything. Neither is it the most portable 15-inch gaming laptop, nor is it the cheapest. There’s no doubt that it hits a sweet spot between size and performance. Although it is not the lightest or thinnest 15-inch gaming laptop, it offers solid gaming performance and decent battery life.

This is also one of the few gaming laptops at this price point to offer an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 Max-Q graphics card. This means you’ll be able to play most games at 1080p resolution with decent battery life and excellent thermal performance.

REVIEW OF THE MSI GAMING GS63

The display

An anti-glare finish and 1920 x 1080 resolution make the 15.6-inch display a comfortable viewing experience. If you want to spend more money on your laptop, you can also choose a 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) option. There is no doubt that the 15-inch screen is gorgeous and bright, with great viewing angles and color reproduction.

Infrastructure

There are two USB Type-C ports, two USB 3.1 Gen2 ports, one HDMI port, and one Thunderbolt 3 port for connectivity. Thunderbolt 3 supports both DisplayPort connectivity and power delivery up to 65W while simultaneously charging your laptop.

Tracing Pad and Keyboard

You can use the trackpad if you don’t mind sacrificing two USB ports for the extra space it takes up on the right edge of the palm rest, and the keyboard has excellent travel for such a small laptop.

Life of A Battery

Its battery life isn’t great either – expect around four hours on average – but this is partly due to MSI’s refusal to improve its laptop batteries. As a general rule, it is not recommended to play games without being plugged in. This only applies to non-gaming situations.

Protection

With a fingerprint sensor integrated into the power button, you won’t have to use passwords or pins every time you log in to Windows 10 Home Edition operating system.

The design

With its all-black design, the MSI GS63 looks great with brushed aluminum on the lid and keyboard deck, as well as aluminum heat fins on the bottom cover. As for the bezel around the display, it’s just 0.5 inches thick on either side, so the laptop feels smaller when closed (4.1 pounds) or open (16 x 11 inches). This laptop’s 15-inch display has a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, making it bright, colorful, and sharp enough for most users – although professionals may want something higher res if they edit a lot of photos or videos. In this price range, the IPS panel is the best.
